I'm dancing to make a difference for sick kids!
When a child is injured, or diagnosed with a serious illness, it affects the whole family. Lives can be turned upside down, and it puts families under enormous pressure. For many families, it can feel like it’s impossible to hold it together.
That’s why I’m joining Ronald McDonald House to Dance for Sick Kids this year.
I’ll be making a move every day for 7 days, to raise money that will help families stay in a home-away-from-home, access emotional and financial support, and more. From day one in the hospital and for as long as it takes, your help ensures that families don’t have to navigate the challenges of illness or injury alone.
Please support me by making a tax-deductible donation to my challenge. Your generosity will make sure that Ronald McDonald House can support even more families with a seriously ill or injured child when they need it most.

My Dance Diary
Day Seven: with my mini me doing the Macarena
Monday 18th May Best way to wrap up, with my mini me….and she was in her pink PJs 💕💗🌸 She said, can we do the Macarena, yes baby girl we can do the Macarena 💃💃 Thanks gorgeous girl for joining in and helping me raise money for this great cause and having fun in the meantime being silly with mama 🤭🤩👌🏻🤗 Share
Day Six: Asereje
Monday 18th May Blast from the past! This was one EVERYONE knew. We brought back the ketchup and had a party. This time I had my BFF to join me. So much fun. Thanks Liz for joining me on the fun (and wearing green) 💚✅🍀 Share
Day Five: Steps
Friday 15th May I went back (way back) into the vault for this one. Had to remember the steps and lyrics 😂 Felt really old doing this one, more so with my yellow Afro wig, I looked like a nanna 🤦♀️ Couldn’t find a yellow shirt but we found a yellow bandana. Hope you had as much fun laughing at me as I did doing this. So, so many giggles with Sofia on this one. She was surprised I remembered the choreography and even googled it and was shocked!! I told her it’s been like, 20 years 🤯😳 Still know it off by heart. Remember going to watch them perform live at the Sega centre in Darling Harbour 🫣 Share
Day Four: a “Touch” late 😂
Friday 15th May So today was postponed as life happens and it doesn’t all go to plan. All you need to do is stop, breathe and remind yourself that you’re human and not a robot, you can burn out 😩
Day three: dedicated to my latin family!
Thursday 14th May Today, was to say thank you to my biggest supporters not only for this cause but in life, my proud family 🥹🥰 In true latino style, loud, proud and full of hips sways 💃🪩🕺 Thank you for all your support as this journey with hospital visits, stays and needed your help to take care of Elena while we help Sofia with her treatment has never been easy. Gracias, de verdad, con todo mi corazón, agradezco todo su apoyo y esfuerzo 😘😘 I thank god I have an amazing support network. This one is an old school dance but my family would all know it 💪 Besos, los quiero muchísimo. Share
Day two: Zara eat your heart out
Thursday 14th May My daughter challenged me to learn the Lush Life choreography. Omg this was so fun! I love watching Zara Larsson and her dancers do the amazing choreo at her performances and thoughts it shouldn’t be too hard, right?!? Again, laughed so hard and went a bit too “enthusiastic” on my spin, we actually have a blooper where you can see my wig flying off my head. 😂😂😂
Day one: to all Katseye fans!
Monday 11th May My daughter gave me a quick crash course of Gabriela and her crazy hands!! 🙌🙌 This was my first attempt and now my arms are saw. We all laughed soooo hard but it was so much fun. Hope you enjoyed the glimpse into my debut on this dance 🤭🤦♀️😂💃🕺🪩 ShareThanks to all the generous people who’ve donated to my challenge.

How Your Donation Helps
A global research team* worked with Ronald McDonald House to evaluate the impact of our House Program on families around the world. The following is a summary of those findings**.
Access to the best care
Our House Program makes it possible for families who travel long distances, to access the top children’s hospitals around the world.
Stronger mental health
Having a child in hospital can trigger clinical anxiety in parents. Our Houses provide families with the emotional, mental and practical support to better manage their stress so that they can be more actively involved in the care of their children.
Financial peace of mind
Ongoing medical bills, travel, and accommodation costs are a huge source of stress for many families. Our Houses offer accommodation at no cost, close to hospitals, to alleviate some of the burden.
Parents sleep better
Parents who sleep at one of our Houses have a better night’s rest than those that sleep at their child’s hospital bedside. This ensures they have the strength to support their child.
Children’s recovery
Having family and siblings close by, who are invested in a child’s care, can improve a hospitalised child’s recovery and treatment outcomes.
Positive hospital experience
Families who stay at a Ronald McDonald House find they have a more positive experience of hospital than those that stay elsewhere.
Families cope better
Having family together under one roof, including the support of experienced volunteers and other families, greatly improves a family’s ability to cope with having a child in hospital.
Safe, affordable alternative to hospital
Many high-risk pregnant women who are stable but need to be close to care, can now afford to stay close to care. This is also the case for parents who have a newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Siblings cope better
Play is how children interact and make sense of the world. That’s why play areas are such an important part of our offering. They allow siblings to connect and cope more with the stress of a difficult situation.
* The global team of researchers was drawn from leading universities, including the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), George Washington University, the University of Chicago, as well as from top medical centres in Hong Kong; Sydney, Australia; the United Kingdom; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cincinnati, U.S.; and Toronto, Canada.
** Findings taken from Ronald McDonald House Impact Research – the name for a suite of studies on the impact of Ronald McDonald House around the world. The summaries provided here provide a snapshot of the findings from each of the key Ronald McDonald House Impact studies.

Well done Raquel! We are with you and your family supporting this cause! Keep them grooves coming and happy to support.
