Dance for Sick Kids like AJ

AJ was a vibrant, energetic kid who loved playing sports and spending time with his friends and cousins. But when he started experiencing persistent pain in his leg and shoulder, his family knew something wasn’t right.

Despite countless doctor visits and blood tests, there were no answers — until an MRI changed everything. In an instant, AJ was rushed to the hospital, and the very next day, he and his family were flown to Westmead Children’s Hospital. The uncertainty and fear were overwhelming as doctors worked tirelessly to find the cause.

Finally, AJ was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Sarcoma NUP98, a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. AJ had to undergo four rounds of intense chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

Through it all, AJ’s family never left his side. Thanks to Ronald McDonald House in Westmead, they had a place to call home for 263 nights, offering them comfort and support during the most challenging time of their lives.
